Step 1: Export the page from GoodNotes

Use GoodNotes’ share or export option for the page and choose an image format rather than PDF. Save the image to Files or Photos (menu names differ between GoodNotes versions; see GoodNotes’ own help pages if you can’t find it).

Step 2: Convert the image to text

  1. Take a clear, well-lit photo of the page (or use an existing JPG, PNG or WebP image).
  2. Click Choose image above, or drop the image onto the box.
  3. Wait for OCR to finish, check the text, then click Copy or Download .txt.

GoodNotes’ own option

GoodNotes also has built-in handwriting recognition, for example converting a lasso selection to text. If that works for your notes, it may be quicker. Use this tool when you want a plain .txt file, or when you’re working from an exported image.

FAQ

How accurate is it?

OCR runs with Tesseract.js in your browser. It works best on neat, separated handwriting and clear photos; joined-up or messy writing will need some manual correction. Always proofread the result.

Can I upload the GoodNotes PDF export?

Not at the moment. Export the page as an image (PNG or JPG) instead.

Is this affiliated with GoodNotes?

No. This is an independent tool. GoodNotes is a trademark of its owner.
